Vashon Island, Washington is located in Puget Sound, directly north of the city of Tacoma. You can reach it from the south by the ferry connection between Point Defiance Park and Tahlequah. The Southworth ferry connects to the island in the north from the Kitsap Peninsula, as part of the route that also includes the South Seattle terminal at Fauntleroy. The island is larger than the island of Manhattan, but it still has a very small feel to it.
